Everyone has their own style when it comes to their writing. Their sentence structure, their words, their thoughts--but how does a writer get there? For some, music is the key to their inspiration. Many of the writers I have talked to stress the importance of having music on in the background as they settle in to create their work.
Some, on the other hand, prefer absolute silence so they can concentrate.
I fall into the former group. I love having music. During a dramatic scene, I love hard-hitting, fast-paced songs. For romance, I like the slow, smooth sounds. For fight scenes? Oh yeah, I love me some metal.
What about the rest of you out there? Do you prefer music or silence?
